A Big Detector for Big Questions: (Astro) particle Physics With Hyper-Kamiokande

Stargazing Live Event

Thursday, 13th April 2017 (19:45 - 22:00)

Venue: swmcmeet

Why is there something (and not nothing)? How do giant stars explode? What is Dark Matter?

Physicists at the University of Sheffield are part of a worldwide effort to answer these questions with the help of Hyper-Kamiokande -- a giant detector buried deep underground. In this talk, Jost will describe how to build such a detector and what to do with it: look for the origins of our universe, watch stars explode and much, much more …

A question and answer will follow the presentation.
