Speaker: Tim Cooper
Tim Cooper is a past-President of the Astronomical Society of Southern Africa (ASSA). He is also an Honorary Member of ASSA, received their Long Service Award in 2008, and was the recipient of the Overbeek Medal in 2018, which is awarded for observational work published in recognized astronomical journals. Tim served as Director of ASSA’s Comet, Asteroid, and Meteor Section for two decades from 1993-2013. He is a member of the AAVSO (over 17,000 visual observations) and the International Meteor Organisation (IMO), and the IAU named asteroid 22722 Timothycooper in recognition of his contributions to meteor observation, and in particular his investigation of bright fireballs and bolides.
